You thought I was going to write something about my morning exercise routine didn't you?  Yeah, right.  These days I only run if I have to chase a kid for some reason.  Which I admit is sad and I should do more, but that is not the topic of this post.

Every morning now I drop Milee off at school before heading to catch my bus.  She arrives at school about an hour earlier than everyone else because she has signed up for a few different extra curricular activities.  We have been doing this for a few months now, and in general it was only Monday,Wednesday, and Friday.  Now she has something going every day of the week.

Anyway, each morning when I drop her off, she gives me a hug and jumps out of the car.  She walks a few feet away, turns, gives me the "I love you" sign, and then begins walking to the building.  I slowly begin to pull away, but as I do I keep peeking back at her.  As she approaches the open gate she looks around (I think to see if anyone else is watching her), and then off she goes on a dead run.

I have to get this on camera.  Here is my beautiful 11 year old, with a backpack that is probably half her weight just running like mad.  She isn't late for anything; not even close.  I haven't tried asking her why she runs because I fear she will stop doing it.  I find it so dang cute.

I speculate she does it because there is nobody around to scold her for running.  During normal school hours it is strictly forbidden except on the play ground.  Could also be she is just excited to get to her class, not sure.

Regardless, I love it.  And I only have two more weeks to enjoy seeing it.

Re: The morning run

That's cool you get to drop your daughter off. Sometimes it's the nuances in life that make you smile as in the case of your daughter's run into school. I'm sure all of our kids have these little things that do and it's wonderful when a father takes the time to notice and appreciate. I don't blame you for not asking why she runs.

Re: The morning run

That's sweet how you turn and watch her and enjoy her run. Enjoy her all you can because they grow up way too fast.

Re: The morning run

These times are the good things life gives us if we take the time to notice. Its hard to believe she is 11 years old. She is beautiful. Only 5 years to wanting to just drive herself to those activities. I am glad you are taking the time to notice these things. Then gettting these things documented. You should get it on video. I wish I had taken video of you kids through out your life. There was a song that came out around the time Ciera was born. It is "I saw God today" I think. By George Straite. Every time I hear this song, I think of you at the hospital going through all you did with her.
