Dead washing machine

Yesterday our washing machine up and died.  Well, it just refuses to drain or spin anymore, so I consider that dead.  It is useless.  Fortunately for us, we have a Sears warranty on it.  Unfortunately for us, they won't be able to come and look at it until this next Friday!  Two adults and four kids and no way to wash cloths.  Jody is so thrilled right now.

These Kenmore units are supposed to be great.  It is the "Elite" series, and they are both front loaders.  Supposedly we should be able to wash more clothing and use less water to do it - or so claimed the sales rep at Sears.  Yet each time we have had the machine serviced, the technician has cautioned Jody about overloading it, specifically telling her to only load it half full to avoid any problems.  It's crazy considering what a sales pitch they made about being able to wash like 40 towels at once.  So I guess we are supposed to load it half full, and run it twice as much?  So much for saving water.  We are seriously considering selling these off and going back to a top loader - or maybe just try a different brand, not sure.  Jody has not been happy with these units at all.

For now, I guess we are going to have no choice but to hit up a laundromat.  Our luck they (Sears) will need to order up a part to complete the repair.  Who knows how long we may be down.
