Well, so far things have gone pretty much as planned. We dreamed of leaving home on time and arriving at our destination on time, but the reality is that it never happens so I consider everything going as planned.
Day 1
Our first planned stop was Sutherlin Oregon. Why? Because it was the first place that was roughly half way to Reno that had an RV park with availability. Actually I wager I could have found an RV site elsewhere, but I did a little research before leaving and the site we stayed at had some pretty good reviews written about it. We stayed at the Umpqua Golf Resort and overall the reviews I read were spot on. Nice park, great management, very clean bathrooms, and it was cheap! Only $22.50 for the night and that included everyone in our party. Most RV parks have a base rate that includes the first two people, then an extra charge per additional person.
The sites were nice and level, but most importantly they were long and pull-through.
Here are a couple pictures of the golf course taken just a few yards from our site.
Since we didn’t arrive at the park until after 6:00pm, we didn’t have time for much besides dinner and sleep.
Day 2
As planned we didn’t leave Sutherlin until nearly 11:00am and our destination this day was Reno Nevada. According to the GPS, we had a long 7.5-8hrs of driving so this was going to be another late arrival.
Sure enough we arrived at the Sparks Marina RV Resort just after 9:00pm, which was pretty good considering we had to stop a couple times to feed a starving 3 month old and her siblings.
This resort is really nice. I still need to get some pictures of it to share, but trust me, it is a nice one. The bathrooms are spotless and the park is completely clean and well maintained. It probably helps that the park is only 4 years old, but still. Oh, and when we arrived, one of the park managers (and I think owner) was still up, and even though the office was closed, he still greeted us at the gate. We had already arranged to arrive late and check-in the next morning, but he figured since he was still up he would help us get settled. Both he and his wife were just awesome.
Day 3
Our third day of adventuring was spent in checking out some of Reno. We took the kids to Circus Circus and let them lose several dollars attempting to win some stuffed toys and playing the arcades. They each actually managed to get a couple toys each, but trust me, I could have bought them several for the price. They seemed to have had fun though so it was worth it. And they really enjoyed watching one of the juggling acts that was put on for the crowd.
Later in the evening we let the kids attack the pool back at the RV park. Again, this was a very nice pool and they had a fun time cooling down. Just our luck that we visit Reno when they are having record heat.

More updates to come....stay tuned.
